Prepare the ingredients. This is an unusually tender and nutritious pea soup-puree, which goes well with fried ham and is perfect as a main first course.

Put the peas, broth and water in a medium saucepan and put on high heat. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium. Simmer over low heat, covered with a lid, for 8 minutes until the peas are soft. Set aside for 10 minutes to cool.

Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the ham and fry on each side until crisp. Transfer to a paper towel, let it cool.

Grind the pea mixture in a blender until smooth. Pour the soup into a clean saucepan, put on medium heat and heat. Season with salt and pepper. Pour the soup into serving plates. Cut the ham into large pieces and put it in the soup in the center of the plate.
